By far one of the biggest shot-losers for most golfers comes when they take their golf chipper out the bag and start swinging. Because the truth is that whilst most golf courses might focus on the state of your golf swing and particularly on driving. That it is your short game where most of your shots are won and lost. If you can master chipping strategies then you will already be ahead of most other golfers who spend all their time worrying about the small stuff, and who constantly get new golf clubs, but never bother to learn how to actually use them!

Now this is a real shame, because whilst golf is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon regardless of your score. All of us find that the swift drink (or 3) after the round at the 19th hole tastes a good deal better if you have managed to knock a few shots of your normal golf game, and if you are a high handicap player (say 24 or higher), then you can make dramatic and speedy improvements in your score IF you focus on the right things.
For most golfers the right things to focus on are their short game, and one key component of that is chipping. Your golf chipper gets an awful lot of use in the average round of golf if you add it all up, and it also acts as a pivotal phase shift between the driving game and the putting game. As such it is important to brush up on how to improve your chipping technique, as it is literally like the lynchpin in golf that draws the other strands of the game together. It also happens to be the one area of the game that people don’t practice as much as they should.
Think about it. Even if you regularly practice away from your normal weeks rounds of golf, and go to the driving range, then were you mainly hitting drivers? Be honest. If you ask most golfers this question, and they are being honest, then you will find that chipping is much less commonly practiced. In some ways this makes sense, because smacking a golf ball to high heaven is a great deal of fun! And that’s fabulous. But you do need to set aside some time for your golf chipper if you are going to make good strides in the chipping game, because practice certainly does make perfect.
What is more, it is actually much easier then you think to knock up to ten shots off your golf score.
Start off by getting a golf chipper you feel comfortable with and then start practicing hard.

Golf Chipper Insights…
Very often it is quite easy to hone in on the primary causes behind chipping errors. Often these will come down to the angle of striking, and how your wrist position and its movement during flight affect the phases of the swing. Quite simply this means that if you can learn to control the angle at which you strike the ball, and keep the amount of movement in your wrist and arm down to the bear minimum, then you will immediately start making progress.
This is why I often think that the Meditative Monks that you see in the movies would make good golfers, because calmness when striking the ball is so key to how much success you have. Luckily though, you don’t have to be a monk to learn how to get your chipping game sorted out. You simply have to practice more with your golf chipper and get a lot more practice.
